Pork

I can tell you for sure, that once upon a time, I hated port.  With a passion.  25 years of marriage, and the only way my kids or husband could get pork on their plate was either at Nanny's house, or a pork and crackling roll from the takeaway shop at lunchtime.

It was banned from our house (bacon and ham excluded).

I have no idea why I disliked it so much - but that has changed, and I have found some absolutely fantastic recipes which I have converted to pork.....

  • Asian style sticky pork belly
  • Twice cooked port belly
  • Roast pork
  • Pork chops with sage butter
  • Stir fried pork with prawns (scavenger food)
  • Leg of Pork (budget breaker - get more than one meal from this)

When I buy pork, I only buy it on special - as with most meats.  When I buy a piece of pork for roasting, if its at the right price, I try and get at least 3 meals out of it, and meat for lunches.
